Microsoft Business Central Pricing Update: What You Need to Know for October 2025

Some big changes coming to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central users this October. For the unimitated Microsoft Business Central is an all‑in‑one, cloud‑based business management solution designed especially for small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs).

It merges financials, operations, sales, supply chain, and analytics into a single platform so you can keep on top of your numbers, streamline workflows, and make better informed decisions effortlessly.

Price Update: What’s Changing in October 2025?

From 1 October 2025, Microsoft will be increasing the cost of Business Central licences for the first time in over five years. The rise applies to new Microsoft Business Central Customers straight away and to existing customers once their subscription comes up for renewal on or after that date.

Here’s how it breaks down:

  • The Essentials licence will increase from £70 to £80 per user per month, with storage rising from 2GB to 3GB.
  • The Premium licence will go from £100 to £110 per user per month, with storage climbing from 3GB to 5GB.
  • The Device licence will rise from £40 to £45 per device per month, with storage moving from 1GB to 1.5GB.

Importantly, Team Member licences will remain at £8 per user per month, so lighter-use accounts are unaffected by this change.

Why the Increase?

This rise isn’t arbitrary; it reflects substantial enhancements to the BC platform:

  • AI and Copilot tools that improve productivity, automate tasks, and aid financial analysis
  • Stronger integration with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and other tools
  • Frequent feature updates, sustainability modules, master data management, plus improved performance and security
  • Larger storage allowances to support more data-intensive usage in a modern, AI-enabled business environment

What Should You Do Now?

  1. Check your renewal date. If it’s before 1 October, you’ll keep your current pricing for now.
  1. Re‑evaluate your licence mix. Do you need Essentials, Premium, or Device licences or even Team Member? (As noted, Team Member licences remain at $8/month for now)
  1. Weigh up the new storage vs price. The increased quotas may well justify the bump—particularly if you’re leveraging AI, reporting heavily, or scaling up volumes.
  1. Plan ahead for budgets. Even a modest price increase adds up fast for multiple users think £ extra per user per month.
  1. Talk to your partner or Microsoft rep if you need clarity on local currency pricing, options to lock in current rates, or custom licensing terms.

Wrapping Up

Microsoft’s Business Central price change orchestrated for 1 October 2025 is a sign of the platform’s ongoing evolution and investment into AI, integration, and usability. It brings more value but also demands attention when budgeting.

If your subscription renews before 1 October, you’ve got a runway to keep current rates. But if not, factor in the new pricing and extra storage into your financial planning now.

Would you like help recalculating costs based on your user count, exploring licence scenarios, or tailoring the tone further for your blog’s audience? Just say the word I’d be glad to help.
